Some people may be put off trying to grow Runner Beans because they think the plant requires a lot of space. In fact the beans just require an A-type wigwam of bamboo canes to give the plants something to grow up so can be grown in a large patio pot. The plant will show off with its ornamental, heart-shaped leaves which will topped off with lovely blooms. Then of course you have a crop of beans to harvest and eat.

Plant in any well-drained, fertile soil. They prefer to be in a sunny, partial shaded area and well protected from strong winds.
